IT'S BEEN AWHILE....

So it's been awhile since we have updated this, but there has definitely been a lot going on.  Some of the major things happening with us right now are:

HOUSE
Well, we finally did it!  We closed on our new house on August 2, and have been moved in for almost a month now!  The process was horrible - it was a short sale that took about 6 months but seemed like 6 years - but it has all been worth it.  I can't tell you how nice it is to actually have SPACE after living in a 1,000 SF, 1-bedroom condo with 3 people for the last 2 1/2 years!  That said - owning a house is a bit of a double-edged sword....man it seems like there is always something that needs to be done, and it definitely can get a bit expensive as well!  Luckily, I am quite handy and can fix/renovate most of the stuff on my own....oh yeah, not quite!  Regardless, it is great to finally have a house and be moved in!

CAM
It's really unbelievable how fast this kid is growing up - he is already 2 1/2 years old!  He is moving to kind of a pre-pre-school classroom at Day Care next week (most kids are 3+ years old), and is doing great!  He is loving sports (wonder where he got that from?), especially golf and baseball...he can actually hit a baseball really well that is pitched to him.  Here is a recent picture of Cam:

MICHIGAN FOOTBALL
Well, of course a post of mine wouldn't be complete without some commentary on UM football!  The season is 2 days away, and I don't think anyone really knows what to expect...it is a new era, and I (along with everyone else) is very interested to see how things develop this year.  At first I was a little leery of the Hoke hire (wanted Harbaugh), but he has definitely won me over (along with pretty much everyone else) since he has been hired.

So - expectations...again, extremely difficult to say.  My baseline for the year is 8-4, and I really think that is a strong possibility.  This may not end up being a great team, but I think it can be a very good team.  And I think Denard Robinson will be his usual eletric self.  There is a lot of talk of moving to a "pro-style" offense, but I don't think this is going to happen as much as people think this year (and next).  They will still run a lot of plays out of shotgun, and D-Rob will still be carrying the ball a lot.  I would wager that this offense will look significantly more like the 2010 offense than it looks like the Carr-era offenses that preceded the spread.  I guess we will see!

One thing I am relatively sure of - the defense will be BETTER - if for no other reason than it can't really be worse.  Greg Mattison was a great hire - probably the most important hire - and while I don't necessarily expect the defense to be GOOD, I think it can be at least OK, which is a far cry from where it was last year.  Add in what I think should be a potent offensive attack, and I think this will be a very dangerous team this year.
